What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the Compliance Officer’s primary focus will be on Counterparty onboarding. Responsibilities include those listed below:
- Receive and process counterparty onboarding requests, to ensure that counterparties are effectively on-boarded in line with best market practices and with Dare’s internal processes.
- Send appropriate customer due diligence (CDD) requests to prospective and existing counterparties.
- Liaise and communicate with stakeholders (Traders, Finance etc.).
- Analyse complex corporate structures to ensure regulatory requirements and internal processes are met.
- Take on responsibility for the Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Know Your Customer (KYC) onboarding processes within Dare.
- Undertake KYC/Know your Business (KYB) checks on potential counterparties in a timely manner.
- Escalate higher risk or unusual cases in line with the escalation policy.
Core Requirements:
- Practical knowledge and understanding of UK, EU, and US AML and financial crime legislation, regulations, and best market practices.
- AML/KYC experience in the commodities trading/shipping industry.
- Experience in commodity markets, in particular the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM), Guarantees of Origin (GoOs), and International Renewable Energy Certificates (IRECs) as well as experience working from a commodity house, exchange, or bank would be preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

- Excellent communication skills, particularly when it comes to discussing legal/compliance matters with in-house stakeholders and counterparties.
- A self-starter, able to demonstrate good levels of initiative and motivation, but also able to work closely with other team members with trust and loyalty.
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree level of education, or equivalent by experience (ideally in a similar industry).
- Industry-relevant qualifications in relation to AML/KYC or wider compliance.
